I love photographing people. Visual storytelling from behind the lens. Herstory and History are personal passion projects celebrating passionate women and men who defy society's expectations. I also love hearing the intriguing stories of the many women and men I work with.
My portrait exhibition, Herstory Pt 1 coincided with International Women's Day 2021 to celebrate women who have lived decades of life. We applaud their strength and fearlessness. This event raised some money towards Coast Shelter* and The Australian Seabird Rescue, Central Coast.
Working with the many women and men for their portraits, I am always struck by their eagerness to share their stories. As we delve deeper into their journey thus far, we often unlock some extraordinary memories from the past. An hour's interview turn into two or three. A one page story to accompany their portrait, turn into pages of some fond, funny and sometimes difficult journey.
During the lockdown in 2021, I also started writing personal life biographies as a volunteer through a private healthcare facility in Sydney for those suffering life limiting medical conditions. The patient's story is recorded, then printed before being gifted to their family. It is a privilege to help keep someone's legacy alive.
This is not just suitable for those approaching their end of life or for someone famous but for any everyday person at any age who would like to record their history and memories for posterity. Every story can inspire, educate or entertain.
Get in touch today to find out how I can help you capture your portrait and write your life story or memoir for loved ones to treasure.
* Coast Shelter is a non-profit charity based in the Central Coast which provides accommodation and support programs for those who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, escaping domestic and family violence.
